We visited the Charmes motorhome aire about two years ago in the winter time. At that time, only the gravel areas were available or use. Today, “in the season”, the grassy areas along the canal side are available for pitching. In the past, the payment has been collected by the caretaker, but now a new fangled electronic entry system is in place for those visiting the motorhome aire at Charmes.

Payment for your stay at the Charmes motorhome aire

On arrival, insert your bank card into the machine and follow the on-screen instructions. Cash is not accepted, so make sure you have a bank card available – a fee free one is best! The machine will charge your card with 7.00 euro for 24 hours – this includes electric hook up and use of toilet and sinks. Showers cost an extra 1.50 euro. You need to select this “shower option” when “checking in”. Once you have paid, the machine spits out a receipt with a code number on. You will need to enter this six digit code to the security barrier when you leave. do not lose this piece of paper!

Keep your receipt – you will need to enter the six digit code from the receipt to operate the exit barrier.

Aside from the technical aspect, this is a lovely area, in a location many a private campsite would envy. The aire is literally in the town centre. There is a Match supermarket and a branch of Lidl France within walking distance. There are some lovely flat cycling routes too.

Fresh, grey and black water facilities at the aire – free of charges.

The parking fee, currently seven euro for 24 hours, includes the use of the toilets/sinks and also the motorhome service point. In addition to the service point, there are plenty of fresh water taps available.

There is a little bit more information about the aire on the Charmes town website.
