( votes)Broadway Caravan Club site is the first of the Caravan Club’s network of sites to be visited since the “launch” of my blog almost three years ago. The site is very easy to find being just a mile or so from the A44. First impressions were favourable, with a neat entrance, visitor parking areas, a security barrier and of course reference to some Caravan Club site rules. Notably, there are no cycling, no scooters and no skateboards. As there are none of these items within the Kontiki, this would not cause inconvenience!
I understand that the parking area also acts as the accommodation area for late night arrivals – late being deemed as after 8pm. After checking in and paying for the pitch, I was given a site map showing the available pitches. As it was a Saturday, I knew the site would be busy and there would be little pitch choice available – I was happy to settle for anything flat. I also took advice on the Caravan Club’s pitching policy – line up the marker post with the offside mirror. The first pitch I spotted did not look capable of taking a near nine metre motorhome, but the next one seemed a little longer, and using the overhang at the back, we were settled.
Facilities at the Broadway Caravan Club site included:
- Heated amenity block with showers and toilets
- Pot wash area
- Laundry
- Motorvan service point
- Mostly hardstand pitches with electric hook up
- Chemical disposal point
- Some recycling
- Play area
- Dog walk
- Wifi (chargeable)
The shower block was warm and was immaculately clean, despite this being a very busy weekend.
The Broadway Caravan Club site is open all year round and is a member only site. I note that the site had Tarmac roads. This helps to maintain an ambience of quiet when compared to vehicles driving over gravel.
Just a short walk from the site’s entrance, you will find the pretty village of Broadway. Here you will find a selection of speciality shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and a small supermarket.
One negative was the motorhome service point. Try as I might, I could not lift the drain covers. Also, try as I might, and however I positioned the Kon-tiki, I could not get the waste water outlet to line up with one of the drains, without partially blocking the adjacent roadway…..
