Camping il Faro is one of about a dozen campsites within the commune of Manerba del Garda. We were originally intending to stay at Camping Baia Verde, a site we have used many times before, but on arrival there were only a few pitches free. We are not really fussy about a pitch – a pitch is a pitch at the end of the day, but the only one we could fit on was noisy being located near the entrance gate, had large numbers of flies swarming about and trees preventing the satellite dish from locking on. As a result, we checked out 15 minutes after checking in!

Camping il Faro is literally next door to Camping Baia Verde, and very close to the lake side. However, there is no lake view from the pitches.  From Il Faro’s gate, turn right and the lake is approximately 100 yards away. Opposite the site is the Minerva Pizza Restaurant, offering good value meals and of a very good quality. A take out service is also available.

Camping il Faro

Camping il Faro, peaceful!

On site facilities at Camping il Faro.

Camping il Faro offers only grass pitches, with or without electricity. Some pitches were shady, whilst others were in full sun. The site is relatively level, although there is a very slight slope on certain pitches. I was advised that electric hook up was provided at six amps. The Sargent EC450 control panel did not indicate “reverse polarity”, and the hook up points/trips switches on the bollard appeared modern.

There are two amenity blocks on site, each offering toilets, showers, wash basins, a chemical disposal point, washing machine and also a foot bath. There is a separate wash/shower room area for those with disabilities. The facility blocks are older rather than newer but were in good order and very clean. We liked the showers, as each had a hot and cold control rather than a preset mixer style set up. Also, the showers produce water at a good flow rate. Showers are switched on and off manually, rather than the thirty-second type affairs.

Camping il Faro – superb for swimmers

Camping il Faro

A great sized, 25 metre pool

The key feature at Camping il Faro is without a doubt the 25 metre long swimming pool. This is a decent length for those wishing to swim, and also a good place for a splash about. There is a shallow area for youngsters.

There is a small supermarket about a ten minute walk away. A local baker delivers to the site in busy periods. Now, speaking of busy periods, we were the only touring unit on site! There are plenty of “seasonals” but most of these were unoccupied as the season draws to a close. The site was near silent at night, a very peaceful and relaxing place.

Camping il Faro is great value for money and due to the large swimming pool, it is a certainty I will be back!

The site is open for six months per year, dates and prices on the web.

Camping il Faro Manerba del Garda

Tranquil as ever – September 2016.

Update 2015 and 2016 – we’re back and we love it!
