Happy Village Camping Rome

The Happy Village is one of numerous campsites around Rome. The site is a participant of the ACSI discount scheme. As a result, we were able to pitch for eighteen euro per night. The usual Italian tourist taxes also apply. We had approached the Happy Village from the north, toll-free on the SS2, and the site was clearly sign posted as “Happy Village” from the road.

The site operates a free shuttle bus to and from Prima Porta railway station from where you can get a train to Rome. If you are make use of the transfer bus, ensure that you arrive in good time. The shuttle bus is actually a minibus with about a dozen seats – so get to the bus stop early!

Some small pitches at the Happy Village Rome

The site is mostly formed of terraces. Some pitches are sloping and most are under the cover of large trees. The smallest pitches are barely longer than a VW camper whilst others are a generous size, but sloping.

Some pitches are VERY small.

The previous visit to Rome was based at nearby Camping Tiber. Another ACSI member, the Camping Tiber site is in my opinion a better choice of place to stay. The pitches are easier to access, the site is level and the site is within walking distance of Prima Porta railway station. If returning to Rome again, Camping Tiber gets my vote for a return visit.

There is some traffic noise on certain pitches from the SS2 and also the GRA ring road, but it wasn’t too bad. The first pitch we chose was infested with ants – each one about the size of a wasp hence we moved elsewhere.
