( votes)We first visited this site in the spring of 2014. The purpose of that visit was to be close to the ferries serving the Channel Islands. Since then, Condor Ferries have moved their operation to Poole now, so the purpose of this visit to Martleaves Farm Campsite was simply to unwind and relax on a working farm. Remember this is a working farm hence you are in the company of animals.
It’s easy to unwind and relax in the company of George and Mildred (black pot-bellied pigs), the hens, lambs and of course the three alpacas.
The trio of alpacas at Martleaves Farm Campsite were an amusing act when they looked through the windscreen!
The camping field is equipped with electric hook up posts. There is plenty room for a bus, let along a tag axle motorhome! There are also grass pitches without electricity available.
Lovely views from a grass with electric pitch. some hard stands available too.

Other recent improvements on site involved the removal of the unisex toilet/shower facilities and replacing with “his and hers”.
From experience, the easiest way to find Martleaves Farm Campsite is to switch off your sat nav and follow a map. After leaving Weymouth on the A354, you’ll come to a roundabout – turn left towards Portland. Pass a small Coop and a petrol station and turn right at the brown coloured “Swallows Rest B&B sign”.
The best features at Martleaves Farm Campsite are the peace and quiet, and the views of the Fleet and towards Portland.
A few moments walk from the site entrance, you will find bus stops for the “number 1” operated by First Dorset. This very busy service operates on a high frequency basis. At certain times of the year at weekends, it operates 24 hours per day, so you can have a night on the town in Weymouth and easily get back. Single or day return tickets are available.
The walk into Weymouth takes about 30 minutes. There is also the coastal path just at the end of the site. This will take you towards Portland.
