Tredegar House Caravan Club site was the second Caravan Club site on the agenda. Located just a mile or so from junction 28 of the M4 motorway, this site stands amongst mature trees, adjacent to the Tredegar House and Gardens. Access to the site is easy and is well sign posted from the motorway.

Tredegar House Caravan Club site is mostly hard stand pitches with electric hook up and also a few grass pitches. The site is sloping but the pitches are within terraced areas, so most pitches are pretty level.

Onsite facilities at Tredegar House Caravan Club site include:

  • Heated shower/toilet block (could have done with being a bit warmer)
  • Laundry
  • Pot wash
  • Hardstand or grass pitches
  • WiFi (chargeable)
  • Plenty of fresh and waste water points
  • CDP
  • Easy to access motorhome service point
  • Swipe access via security barrier

Access to Tredegar House Caravan Club site is through the grounds of the Tredegar House grounds/access roads – the access road is gated and locked at a predetermined time. The time varies according to the time of year. Campers are however able to still access the caravan site outside of these hours.

Adjacent to the site is a large pond with plenty of hungry ducks, and also a childrens play area within the grounds of Tredegar House.

I noted there were numerous CCTV/security cameras on site, and also a bit of barbed wire along a perimeter wall.

Within walking distance are bus stops offering services to Newport and Cardiff. Cardiff centre is well worthy of a visit and also the Motorpoint Arena may well be cause for your visit to the area. If you are travelling on the “Newport Bus” or “Cardiff Bus” services, note these companies are “exact fare only”. The other services operated by “Stagecoach” were a lot more forgiving when I offered two one pound coins for a £1.50 fare!

The plus side to this site is it’s close proximity to Cardiff. The downside however is noise from the M4 motorway, which is apparent around the clock. That said, this did not affect my sleep pattern! The Tredegar House Caravan Club site falls within the Club’s “mid week half price pitch fee” offer at certain times of the year.

Tredegar House Caravan Club site is also a good transit stop for those travelling to and from the ferries at Fishguard and Pembroke.
