Whitemead Caravan Park was chosen for a four night stay in order to meet up with a friend, also a motorhomer. We would then take a day trip to Guernsey on board the HSC Condor Liberation.

The site is fairly large with a hundred or so pitches. It is divided in half by a small stream. Furthermore, some pitches are “tucked away” and clustered in groups of four or five, whilst others are in a more open camping area. The pitches are of a good size and pitching the near 29-foot Kon-tiki was easy.

The site owners are very friendly, and when chatting to Roy and Jill, you will feel like you are talking to someone who has known you for donkeys years rather just a few moments. Interestingly, Roy and Jill are new owners of the site, so we wish them well in their new venture.

In Wool, there is a lovely baker’s shop, selling excellent bread and home-made cakes. There is also a Spar shop and a couple of pubs within easy reach. A very quiet lane/road from outside the site offers nice cycling towards Moreton and Weymouth, the latter being 13 miles.

Whitemead Caravan Park

Whitemead Caravan Park boasts spotlessly clean facilities.

The train line runs along the topside of the site, so a few pitches may encounter a little train noise. The Kon-tiki was perched right next to the line – at my request when making the booking. The trains did not cause any concern. The advantage of course to having a train line, and indeed a train station adjacent, makes Whitemead Caravan Park within very easy reach of Weymouth, Poole, Bournemouth, Southampton and even London Waterloo. We used the train to get to Poole and the return fare was just £6.70. There is also a bus stop in Wool, with the X53 Jurassic Park service calling here.

Whitemead Caravan Park

Whitemead Caravan Park offers generous sized pitches.

Those using the Port of Poole, for ferry services to the Channel Islands and also Cherbourg, may find this site is a great transit stop.

All in all, Whitemead Caravan Park is a lovely site, peaceful, spacious and welcoming – can’t wait to return in 2016. Opening dates and prices are available on the website. Also worth mentioning, the site is a member of the ACSI scheme.
