Here is a summary of our motorhome tour. If you click on the blue links, you will be directed to our blog page about that item.
Day 1 – Yorkshire to Folkestone – Calais – Mons (Belgium) and overnight stop at the motorway service area.
Day 2 – Mons – Charleroi – Arlon – Luxembourg – Metz – Nancy – Epinal – Cernay – Mulhouse – Basel (Switzerland) and an overnight stop at Camping Sursee.
Day 3 – Onwards, passing Lucerne, over the St Gotthard Pass, Chiasso, Monza, Bergamo, Brescia and Lake Garda to stop at Camping Baia Verde. Alas, Baia Verde was too busy, too noisy and had lots of flies. Consequently, we checked out 15 minutes after checking in! We chose to stay at Camping Il Faro instead! Five nights at Camping Il Faro
On then to Camping Piantelle for another five nights.
Day 13 – an airport drop and then onto Lake Maggiore and Camping Parisi
Day 14 – to Camping Attermenzen, Randa, Switzerland, via the Simplon Pass
Day 15 – via Lake Geneva and Besancon to Camping La Tuilerie – amazing – see pics!
Day 16 – Hard work for the Multijet, 430 miles or so to Dunkerque.
Day 17 – to Dover and home.
Our motorhome tour – a route summary
Total mileage including journey to Folkestone and From Dover: 2191
Fantastic sounding trip, I especially liked the Swiss pass details – just hope to get down that way someday soon, keep planning it but things keep “popping up”.
Do you ever go to the Xmas markets?
Hi Russell
Thanks for all the info. We are currently on the Solcio campsite at Lake Maggiore just 6km north of Camping Eden. Our intention is to travel to the very North of the lake to Locarno then Bellinzona for the Gotthard Tunnel.
Are you aware of any problems with this route? We are also in a long van like you. Many thanks in anticipation.
Kind Regards
Hi
I have not done the route from Maggiore to St Gotthard.
The last run home was via Switzerland and over the St Gotthard Pass
In the past, we have gone over the Simplon Pass
Sorry, I can’t advise on the route to Locarno.
