( votes)A relatively new motorhome stopover, the Aire de camping-cars Saint Die offers the modern traveller a whole range of facilities at a great value for money price. The aire is around a mile or so from the town centre whilst across the road there is a bowling alley and other leisure activities. This camperstop is set back from the road and adjacent to a river. Consequently, in these peaceful surroundings, a good night’s sleep is on the cards!
Access to the aire is via a an electronic barrier. Payment is made before entering the aire. Take note – it is bank cards only – no cash. Similar to the aire at Charmes, upon payment of the fee, the payment meter generates a numerical code number. This code number is then input to a key pad adjacent to the barrier. The same code allows entry and exit. Furthermore, you are able to use the code more than once. Therefore you may enter the aire, leave and return etc.
The N59 dual carriageway offers access from the north. Transit south is via the hills and the D459 or the N159 tunnel bypassing St Marie aux Mines.
The present tariff is six euro for upto 24 hours – beat that for value!

- Free wifi

- Grey water dump
- Chemical disposal point

This aire is great value for money and we are with around twenty other units tonight. However, there are a few motorhomes that appear to be “resident”!. That said, does it matter if there is an awning up or a car parked adjacent to the camper van?
