Although not an “aire pour les camping cars”, the Calais ferry terminal is worthy of a mention as a stop over. We have overnighted there many times in the past without issue. Of course, the advantage is the close proximity to the cross channel ferries.
Upon arrival at Calais, proceed as though you are leaving the docks. At the roundabout, follow the sign for “parking/without tickets”. There are usually quite a few motorhomes and caravans bunked down for the night. When coming from the motorway, head to the carry ferry terminal, but instead of heading for the embarkation lanes, follow the signs to the parking area/without tickets/sales office. The car park is tarmac and slopes slightly. I have never found noise to be an issue although it can be very windy sometimes.
Just a few minutes walk away, you will find the terminal building where there are toilet facilities.
There are also overnight parking facilities at the nearby Cite Europe shopping centre and the Dunkirk ferry terminal. Both of these are quieter at night.
…”and of course, the advantage is the close proximity to the cross channel ferries.”
And, it is free !
is the terminal building open all night for coffee toilets etc..
