( votes)Although not a campsite or official aire de camping car, Cite Europe motorhome parking, Calais is worthy of a mention.
Being a car park at a commercial shopping centre, it goes without saying the surface is tarmac, albeit on a slight slope. Access to the shopping centre is a very short stroll and there are also bars and restaurants available inside the shopping centre.. The motorhome parking area at Cite Europe is signposted with the usual motorhome symbol, and is adjacent to the coach park. There are a couple of litter bins if you need them.
When we stayed overnight, there were only two motorhomes in the car park. The parking area is quiet and is very convenient for those travelling via the tunnel. There is plenty of lighting though, so you need good black out blinds! There is a police station within view. For those with a long-range wi-fi adaptor, you can pick up the Eurotunnel’s free wifi. You are so close to the tunnel terminal, you can see the lanes where vehicles line up.
The map above shows Cite Europe. The motorhome parking area is adjacent to the letter “C” on the map – click on “Streetview” and see how many motorhomes and caravans are there…is one of them you?
I also stayed at the Cite Europe parking area on the return leg of the journey – there were at least half a dozen motorhomes and one caravan doing the same thing. Shoppers may find the Cite Europe website interesting!
Cite Europe motorhome parking – caution
We have heard of people who have been broken into at this parking area. Our understanding is that the vans were not occupied at the time. Be aware if you park here.

Hi Russell ,me again, is the paking at Calais docks (without ticket) free and safe ? Arriving off p+o at midnight next Wednesday ! Thanks again in advance , chris Gough
Hi – we have parked at Calais docks a few times but on our last visit it was partially closed for works, partically sectioned off for “reserved” and then generally full!
Hi Russell We have parked at he cite Europe several times mainly when returning, in 2013/14 there were migrants around the bushes area and guards challenging them when they came out to the car park, but on the last few years they are no signs of them , I suspect that they have been moved on. Note that the cite Europe is closed on Sundays but the parking is still available.

We have used Cite d’Europe several times without problem. The car park lights go off after about 10pm . There is a motorhome service point at the petrol station around the corner.
Although the shops are shut in Sunday ( there are a few exceptional Sunday’s such as before Christmas) the restaurants are open.
