The Motorhome aire Marck sits conveniently between Calais and Dunkirk. As a result, this is a great stop over for those seeking a night stop close to the ferry terminals – slightly further to the channel tunnel
Typical of many French aires, the Motorhome aire Marck offers similar faciities:
- Five hard stand plots
- Electric at 5 amps. Note worthy of a mention, you will require the “two pin type” adaptor. These are available through Amazon – click here to buy one.
- Fresh and grey water
- Chemical dispoal point
- Rubbish collection point
- Small convenient store within walking distance
- Bakery – again easy walking disatance
- Eight euro per night – but no idea who or how to pay! Presumably a “collector” comes round, but we saw no one during our stay.
This aire is adjacent to a large sports complex, surrounded by residential properties. It is very quiet at night. However – and this did not put us off. We had stopped to buy wine and beer at a nearby warehouse – a couple of miles away. Despite a police presence there and also a “security man” on site, three “undesirables” did try to access the motorhome. The dog and my other half saw them off!
The location, being so close to the channel ports, is the selling point for this aire. More details are available here. Alternatively, Gravelines is just up the road and again, offers a peaceful stopover.
