Hats off to Westmorland and Furness Council for coming up with Motorhome parking Bowness on Windermere. The key thing here is you can officially park and stay overnight at Braithwaite Fold car park. This is great news. However, it is not the cheapest but you are a few minutes walk from the piers at Bowness and maybe a ten minute walk to Bowness town centre.
Being a car park, there are no facilities other than a hard standing parking spot. Public toilets are available within the car park and during both of our stays at Bowness, the loos were open 24/7.
As mentioned, it is not cheap – circa £50 for a three day and night stay as night stops have to paid for with a separate ticket to day stops. We have contacted the council to suggest a better method. £50 may sound a lot – and indeed it is not small fry – but August Bank Holiday in the Lakes? Not bad at all is it, really? Noteworthy of a mention, there is a ticket available that includes bus travel. We have one of those and it has certainly been value for money!
