( votes)The journey from Lake Garda to the UK was to be done with three rather than two night stops due to having Sydney on board. For those not in the know, Sydney is the travelling dog. The Camper Stop Europe book refers to the Willisau Camperstop, adjacent to a fire station in the town of Willisau. This stop over is certainly more pleasant than one expects, more so in terms of value for money! Incidentally, details of the Camperstop book are available on thisĀ link…..Motorhome guide Camperstop Europe 27 countries. 2017 GPS
Willisau Camperstop is adjacent to a Fiat car dealership at 8, Menzaurstrasse. I refer to this as the actual address of the stellplatz is Bisangmatt, but this street name is not on some maps and sat nav’s.
The camper stop has half a dozen places and electric hook up is available. Note that the electric hook up is to the far right of this photo’. Consequently, if you pitch to the left, you may require two long hook up leads. Fresh and grey water facilities are available, as is a chemical disposal point. So that’s it, the Willisau Camperstop in summary. However, it is made more special by the method of payment collection. There is a desk/table with a sign marked as “kassa”. There is no receptionist though – it’s like B&Q – DIY! Take an envelope, pop in your five Swiss Francs (we did not have any, so popped in five Euro instead) – and that’s it.
What’s nearby to the Willisau camperstop?
Willisau is in fact a rather pretty town, with archway entrances. There are various shops and bars, bakeries and so on. A little further afield, but easily reached on foot or cycle, there are supermarkets and larger stores.
If however camperstops are not your cup of tea, or you are in a caravan, you may prefer Camping Sursee nearby.
Hi Russell,
I have really enjoyed reading all the info on Motorhome Voyager. Lots of places to see on my now to do list. We have been caravanning in France and Spain for 6 years. We have recently bought a Motorhome so now feel we can go further like visiting Italy & Croatia. Reading about your travels has given us lots of good information and ideas.
Thank you very much for such an informative web site.
