Located “high in the hills”, the Camping and Caravanning Club Minehead offers some pitches with lovely sea views stretching across as far as South Wales. Access to the site is via a fairly steep and winding lane, but even for the six wheeled Kon-tiki, this was manageable. Take care to follow the map that the Club provides. Do not use satnav!

Camping and Caravanning Club Minehead

The approach to the Camping and Caravanning Club Minehead is steep and narrow, but manageable.

Once on site, we were given a very warm welcome from Keith, the site manager. Keith seemed to remember – and use – the names of all visitors! Whilst the choice of pitch was limited due to the length of the motorhome, we were given a choice of what was suitable, none the less.

The site amenity block is older rather than newer, but spotlessly clean and with the added benefit of showers where the user can regulate the temperature rather than a preset water flow. Other features on site include:

  • Motorhome service point
  • Pot wash
  • Laundry
  • Reception/shop selling basics and local ice cream
  • CDP
  • WiFi (payable)

Camping and Caravanning Club Minehead – no caravans…

Noteworthy of a mention, the Camping and Caravanning Club Minehead can only accept motorhomes, tents and trailer tents. Pitches are grass with or without electric, and hard stand with electric. Some pitches are sloping and so levellers or chocks will be needed.

From the site, there are numerous walks available. Don’t be surprised if you encounter Exmoor ponies roaming! The walk into town takes about 30 minutes and is steep coming back. There is a choice of routes and, on the “main” route, a church with gardens and benches for a “breather”

The Camping and Caravanning Club Minehead is in a fairly rural spot. As a result, the site is silent at night and even in darkness, you can enjoy views towards the town and the sea.

Steam train enthusiasts may enjoy a trip on the West Somerset Railway. There is a station in Minehead.

The tariff at this CCC site is more than reasonable – details here.
