The first thing to note about the Camping and Caravanning Club Moreton, is the location. This is Moreton, Dorset, not Moreton in Marsh!

Located roughly mid way between Weymouth and Poole, the Camping and Caravanning Club Moreton was our base for a day trip to Guernsey, catching the high-speed ferry at Poole. Access to Poole from the site is easy – Moreton train station is a couple of minutes walk away. Trains run between Weymouth, Poole, Bournemouth and on to London Waterloo. This ensures exploring the local area, or further afield is easy.

On arrival, we were offered a choice of pitch (my logic is anywhere flat with hook up) and also given a leaflet explaining the site’s facilities. The hard stand pitch accommodated the Kon-tiki with ease, both in terms of length and width.

Camping and Caravanning Club Moreton offers many facilities including:

  • Two amenity blocks – plenty of hot water, showers at a good pressure
  • Chemical disposal point
  • Dog walk
  • Childrens play area with sand pit
  • Chemical disposal point
  • Laundry
  • WiFi (charge applies)
  • Choice of pitches, grass, hard standing or “jumbo” grass for large tents
  • Family room/less able
  • Dish washing area

Some of the grass pitches are slightly sloping, so levelling ramps and/or chocks may be required.

The site is surrounded by mature trees. Consequently, those using satellite TV equipment may need to choose a pitch carefully. There is a pub next door, “The Frampton Arms,” offering meals and also a skittles alley!

TV reception was not great through the standard digital system.

Both by day and by night, the Camping and Caravanning Club Moreton has a very peaceful feel.Even though the site was very busy, noting both “mid-week”,  and the exceptionally good weather, near silence prevailed. Bliss.

Prices and bookings available on the Club’s website.
