User Review
( votes)Surrounded by the Mendips, the Camping and Caravanning Club Cheddar offers a peaceful and restful location for a break. Although in a fairly rural location, the nearby attractions of Wookey Hole, City of Wells, the seaside resort of Weston super Mare and Cheddar Gorge are all within easy reach.
The site offers many facilities to the modern day camper:
- Heated shower/toilet block
- Laundry
- Pot wash area
- Chemical disposal point
- Plenty of fresh water taps
- Choice of grass or hard stand pitches
- Electric hook up
- Well stocked shop
- Information point with more information than a tourist office!
- WiFi (fee payable)
- Freshly baked bread – order the day before, then morning collection!
Speaking of food, the local farm shop offers a good selection of home made pies, known locally as “Priddy Good Pies!” Slightly further afield, but within staggering, sorry, walking distance, there is the Queen Victoria pub. This dog friendly eatery offers food and drink, plus open fires – cracking at this time of year!
If there is a downside to this site, it is the lack of public transport. The bus service runs…..once per week. However, there is plenty of parking at Cheddar, Wookey and Wells, with some larger spaces which may be suitable for motorhomes.
The local village of Priddy is home to the annual folk festival. Be sure to book the campsite early for this! More information about the festival and the local area is available by clicking here.
Christmas at the Camping and Caravanning Club Cheddar
This site has an extended opening season, continuing through the autumn and into the New Year. Exact opening dates and pricing is available on the Club’s website.
