( votes)The Camping Municipal Obernai is about one mile from Obernai town centre. However, the local council also provides a free minibus service that connects various key locations. For example, it is possible to travel from the campsite to the rail station or town centre. Camping Municipal Obernai is open all year round and there are 25 pitches that are “pencilled in” for motorhomes, each pitch offering electric hook up. There are also fresh water taps and drains close by. The taps are usually turned off in winter though. Some of the hard stands do slope slightly on a “side to side” basis. There are also many more pitches in the grassy area for caravans.
On site facilities at Camping Municipal Obernai

- 25 hard stands, primarily for motorhomes, each with hook up and fresh/grey water
- Motorhome service point
- Chemical disposal point

- Pot wash
- Grass pitches with electric, usually used for caravans

As mentioned, Obernai town centre is not far away and offers a range of shops, cafes and restaurants, the latter covering various budgets. There is a “Match” supermarket in the town centre. The local rail station offers services to Strasbourg and Selestat, with connections to Colmar and further afield.
The receptionist today confirmed this was my 12th, yes 12th visit to the site in the last four years. It goes without saying that whether for a transit stop en route to and from Italy, or a longer stay to enjoy the Christmas markets in the Alsace, the Camping Municipal Obernai is always on my list to “call again”.
***We visited the Camping Municipal in November/December 2011 on a repeat visit. All was just as well as usual, but the local bus to town was on a chargeable basis of 50 cents per journey***
More information about the site and the local area available on the town website
Update – 2015 onwards. The site is no longer open all year. Closed from January to March. Sadly!
Love this site in the late Autumn and the Christmas decorations, not to forget the Alsace Mulled Wine in the town! It is so convenient as an overnight stop on our way to Switzerland or further east.
