Camping Paradies Franken makes for a pleasant overnight stop over for those travelling on the A7 motorway through Germany. The campsite is not too far from the “Romatic Road”. Although slightly off the beaten track, the site was easy enough to find and was a welcome sight after a day on the road.

Check-in was efficient and prompt, and we were shown to a pitch. Hook up bollards indicate 16 amps, more of that later though!  We used our ACSI card as ID and also to obtain the discounted camping rate. Once pitched and level, we “hooked up” but alas the hook up post was not functioning. As a result, we changed pitches and solved the issue.

Camping Paradies Franken

A lovely winter’s morning

The disappointment with Camping Paradies Franken came upon check out. The bill was almost fifteen euro more than expected and this appeared to be charges for additional electricity, over and above the standard four kilowatts that is included in the night stop rate. Each extra kilowatt cost close to one euro per kilowatt hour! No prior warning of this charge had been made. In fairness, we appreciate the Alde system uses a fair amount of electricity. However, the chargess are FAR in excess on any utility company rate. Therefore this is little more than day light robbery. Where is Robin Hood these days?

That said, and with advance warning about the electricity, the site is top dollar and in a lovely location for cycling and walking etc.

The site is open all year round, details of pricing and directions are available here.
