( votes)After spending a few peaceful nights in Manerba del Garda, it was time for a change of scenery. Moniga del Garda, just a couple of miles away from Manerba del Garda offers numerous campsites. After visiting a few only, we found difficult to access pitches, sloping pitches and pitches that were too small for a six wheeler. Consequently, we resorted to an old favourite, Camping Piantelle.
Camping Piantelle is easy to find and is sign posted on approach. It was rather nice to be remembered by the receptionist even though our last visit was about twelve months ago. We were offered an “XXL” pitch, so more than suitable for the tag axle. These pitches would accommodate most RV’s and 5th wheelers too.
The on site facilities are plentiful at Camping Piantelle
- Shower/toilet blocks with plenty of hot water
- Washing machine
- Childrens play area with swings, slides, climbing frame and so on
- On pizzeria and bar
- On site shop with fresh bread and other essentials
- Some pitches are lake side
- Cycle hire
- Good sized swimming pool with separate “shallow” area
- FREE WiFi – near the reception area, with undercover seating area provided
- 6 amps electric hook up
- Chemical disposal point
Just a short walk from the site are various supermarkets, such as Italmark, Penny Market and Lidl. There are bus services to Desenzano (train services to Verona, Venice and Milan) and also buses to Brescia and other local destinations. The site has direct access to the beach and also lovely lake side walks towards Padenghe and also towards Moniga del Garda port, where there are other bars and restaurants – we particularly like “La Pescatrice” offering good value for money and a lake view whilst you dine!
Camping Piantelle is open longer than many sites on the western side of Lake Garda, making this an ideal destination for the “shoulder months” when the resorts are quieter, yet the sun still shines!
At certain times of the year, ACSI rates apply. Park details available here.
