( votes)Camping Remo Moosbad is situated two minutes from the A2 motorway, close by the “Aldorf Nord” exit. The site is formed with primarily static and seasonal units. However, at a guess there are about a dozen or so pitches available for tourers. It’s worth mentioning that all these pitches are on grass, and the site is open all year round. That said, in winter, the area is probably rock hard with frost anyway! I had struggled to find many site reviews for this campsite, but think the actual name is “Camping Remo Moosbad”, located within the area of “Moosbad”, close to the town of “Altdorf”. Some internet searches show the site as Camping Moosbad.
Despite a language barrier, I received a very warm welcome from the owner. Upon discussing the length of the unit as best I could in German, “neun metres” (!!), the lady called her husband to assist. He explained that there had been a lot of rain and the grass was wet, but he could put me in the parking area that had some gravel mixed into the grass. As this was only a one night transit stop, my logic of “flat pitch with hook up” applied….
Pitches with mountain views at Camping Remo Moosbad
There are lovely mountainous views in most directions, giving a real feel of Switzerland to Camping Remo Moosbad. The site is next to a road although the traffic noise was not particularly noticeable.
On site facilities included a spotlessly clean amenity block with showers, (charged separately), washing up area, laundry and also an indoor CDP. There is a bar area to where snacks and drinks are served.
A few minutes walk from Camping Remo Moosbad you will find Aldi, Burger King and a Shell garage. The town of Altdorf is about a 20 – 30 minute stroll.
I could not find a website for Camping Remo nor could I find an official tariff. I was charged twenty Swiss Francs, about £13.50 including hook up, which, even with the Alde heating on at the 2KW setting, did not cause a “trip”.
The adjacent swimming pool, a cable car ride and the close proximity to the motorway make this a good transit stop for those heading to and from Italy.
