( votes)Woodland View Caravan Site is a “Certificated Site“, associated with the Camping and Caravanning Club. This small site is a gem of a find. The caravan site is just a few miles from Barnsley, Holmfirth and Penistone and about four miles from junction 37 of the M1 motorway. As a result, this may well ensure the Woodland View Caravan Site is a convenient transit stop.
Access to the site is easy, even for a tag axle. The hard standing pitches comfortably accommodate the larger units. Electric hook up is included and the mid week tariff is £10 per night (June 2015.) The weekend tariff is advertised at £12 per night.
On arrival, I let myself into the site through gated access and was soon greeted by the owner. He explained where things were and where the local pub was. The site was very well tended, with the hard standing pitches “surrounding” a central grass area. The site is slightly sloping, but I was offered the use of some wooden ramps if needed – I thought this was a rather nice touch.
In addition to lovely views, as the name Woodland View Caravan Site suggest, this CS offers a toilet/hand basin, fresh water tap, waste water disposal, chemical disposal point, a couple of benches/picnic tables to sit at, a small information area with leaflets of the surrounding area and also a good recycling point. I was amazed to see a pot for the collection of dud batteries!
Cycling and walking from Woodland View Caravan Site
Walkers, our four legged friends and cyclists will not be disappointed – the site is very close to the Trans Pennine Trail, so you can walk and cycle to your heart’s content!
All in all, this site occupies a lovely spot, made all the better by a warm and friendly South Yorkshire welcome. The slight downside is there is some road noise, but it certainly would not stop us returning.
