( votes)Towards the southern end of the Romantic Road, you will find the Wieskirche Wies Church. With origins dating back over 250 years, there were reports that tears were seen on a wooden statue of Christ hence the church became a centre for pilgrimage. A small chapel was then built to house the statue, but due to the number of pilgrims, the church was then much enlarged.
Although rather drab from the outside, the interior is little less than spectacular. Admission is free of charge, with donations accepted. Guide books are available in most languages. There are toilet facilities at the parking area, but be prepared to pay 50 cents to spend a penny!
The interior however is most spectacular.
Motorhome access to the Wieskirche Wies Church
Motorhome parking cost from two euro. Signage to the motorhome parking area was clear although no overnight parking is allowed.
A German website offers more information about the church. Well worthy of a visit.
