So the first real “tour” of the UK, coming in with 17 nights away and 803 miles on the clock – here goes….
Day 1, from York to Daventry and a visit to Roadpro to have the satellite system checked – as you’d expect, it performed normally there with no fault found. On then to Harbury Fields caravan site for one night.
Day 2, to Warwick for a nosey around, then onto Evesham to collect my friend David who has travelled extensively with me in the past, before heading to the Caravan Club at Broadway for two nights.
Day 3, in Broadway, eating, drinking and being merry.
Day 4 – via the M50 toll free, avoiding the Severn Bridge Toll, to the Caravan Club Tredegar House
Day 5 – train journey to Pembroke Dock to see the Isle of Inishmore ferry
Day 6 – train journey to Fishguard docks to catch the ferry to Ireland. Unfortunately, rough seas prevented the trip, so a car and a train back to Newport!
Day 7 – shopping in Cardiff
Day 8 – to Chertsey CCC for a two night stop, met up with friends Gary of Motorhome Vagabond and his partner Ewelina
Day 9 , more visitors armed with bags of cream cakes!
Day 10 – to a favourite site, the CCC Canterbury
Day 11 – an early start and a dash to Dover. A round trip on the Spirit of France, followed by another round trip on the Pride of Burgundy – four crossings in total.
Day 12 – Early sprint to Dover for a round trip on the Pride of Canterbury with it’s lovely waiter service breakfast in the Brasserie.
Afternoon in the company and Mavis and Ray, and the evening with “the girls”, June and Elaine.
Day 13, to Daventry and a repeat visit to Roadpro. The fault was found but the repair a bit longer than expected, so an impromptu night stop at their premises.
Day 14 – to Conkers CCC
Day 15 – a visit from an old flame (!) and a glass or two of red.
Day 16 – to Taunton by train to collect a Sky box from Tony, a keen motorhomer.
Day 17 – to the CC Poolsbrook
Day 18 – back to York, just over 800 miles covered.
Russell,
Day 11 – Why did you do 4 ferry crossings? Have you got some sort of incentive?
