( votes)Overnight parking at Poole ferry terminal is available alongside the check in lanes. This stopover facility enables motorhomers and caravanners to be in the right place at the right time! This is a great solution for those catching an early ferry, noting that some campsites do not allow vehicle movements within certain hours.
At the time of writing, the fee is £5.00 for overnight caravan parking. The same tariff applies to motorhomes too. The overnight fee is payable at the “Harry Rocks” cafe, adjacent to the check-in lanes.
For those spending the night at Poole before a crossing, follow the signs for vehicle check in. There is further signage detailing the tariff. For those leaving a ferry, follow the white sign for “caravan parking”
Overnight parking at Poole ferry terminal – facilities
- Toilets – plenty of them and very clean
- Showers – one of each, his and hers
- Disabled toilet facility
- Chemical disposal point
- Fresh water
- Coffee shop (not 24 hours)
The area is quiet enough at night. However, the “Barfleur” Brittany Ferry was in residence overnight with her engines running, but the noise was nothing to get upset about. A large ASDA supermarket is about fifteen minutes walk away, with a similar distance to Poole shopping centre.
There are two ferry operators serving the Poole ferry terminal. Condor Ferries have their high speed service to the Channel Islands/St Malo whilst Brittany Ferries have a service to Cherbourg.

Hi , very interested in this .do we have to book overnight stay .
Regards Rachael Hillman
Hi – as far as I am aware, you just turn up and pay in the cafe. I had previously emailed the Poole Harmbour Commissioners as I didn’t know “how it all worked”.
Hi
We are coming in on the late ferry from Cherbourg and want to stay in the port over night before heading off in the morning.
Is this possible.
Hi – yes! When you come off the ferry, look for the small caravan parking sign as showin inthe photo. This pic will direct you to the right, back to the check in lanes. You park there overnight. If you might the turn, don’t worry – there’s a roundabout a little further on.
Hi
Can I park the car from Friday to Sunday
FF
Hi – I’d suggest that you contact Poole Harbour on the link above. They will be able to help you.
At what time can we go on the port to stay over night to go to Cherbourg
I don’t think there’s a set time. I’d guess it depends what ferry departures there are on the day you arrive. Speak to Poole Harbour Commissioner – link in the main text.
is there electric plug in service at Poole Harbour
Hello, no there is no hook up facility.
Hi All
I have a post-lockdowns query, since times are strange and rules change all the time.
Is it still possible to park overnight before/after the Condor ferry to Guernsey, and does anyone know if there is plenty of space?
Thanks
Paul
As far as I know yes, but check with Poole Harbour authority
Hi,
Can I park over night to pick up a passenger coming in early Sunday morning?
So my van won’t be boarding the ferry but I’m travelling a bit of a distance so I’d rather be parked up ready to collect early in the morning?
Please note overnight parking fee has been increased to £15
